Lör’s epics offer much more in the way of listener engagement than smart construction, impressive though their songwriting chops certainly are. The roads to their delayed payoffs are paved with instant gratification, both melodically and instrumentally speaking; galloping riffs and drum patterns surge forward with thrashing, kinetic energy, while immense choruses offer cathartic peaks without stooping to Disney levels of cornball melodiousness. Indeed, In Forgotten Sleep is defined by its individual successes as much as its long-form victories…In Forgotten Sleep is a remarkable record in every aspect, one of the only works in my collection that can justify every second of a seventy-minute run-time, and indisputably my favorite album of the year thus far. Whether Lör can keep up this momentum has yet to be seen, but In Forgotten Sleep already feels like an underground classic in the making.”  – Angry Metal Guy – 4.5

Lör are a veteran prog-power band with some folk influences out of Philadelphia, and In Forgotten Sleep is their self-released debut. Trust me, they won’t be unsigned for long. This album has it all in spades; the perfect mix of prog, heaviness (there’s a bit of harsh vocal work in here) and folk metal.

Songwriting and performances seem effortless here, with short interludes between epic cuts. Whether it’s the folk-influenced “Dusk” or the prog-power of “Eidolon,” Lör play it all with envious skill.” – Heavy Metal HQ – 4.5

“Quality song after quality song, the up-tempo beat of Visions of Awakening that shows off some intense beauty midway with lovely melody & soft singing. The haunting tune of Song for the Lost that rips a hole through the soul & Eidolon, that goes for the throat with its proggy guitars.

It’s a hell of an adventurous album. So much so that it can actually get a bit much to really take it all in. This is not an album that you listen too once. There’s so much going on that you’d only end up disappointed. Give this incredible piece of work time, let it sink in.It wraps up with the incredible title track that is nearly 10 minutes of wondrous folk & epic power metal. An absolute barn-burner of a final track that will leave a silly smile on your face.” – Games, Brains, and Head Banging Life – 9/10

Lör does not sin of what his sisters of the genre do, the generic is not part of the essence of this album or this band, there are no moments that feel unnecessarily left or empty, as they take the most relevant influences of the last years of other genres combined with the best of Power, those uncontrolled guitars that pronounce delicious riffs full of condensed levels of speed, elegance and nostalgia…A clever movement by the band to deliver something extremely pleasant, with a strong essence of the genre without falling into the cheesy but demonstrating some magic in the atmosphere of composition and technique. Without a doubt, of the best records of this year.” – RTMB – 9/10 (Translated from Spanish)
